Dermal Fillers

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a powerful moisturising agent which appears naturally in the dermis, maintaining hydration and skin tone. With age, the skin dries out and becomes fragile and wrinkles start to appear. The tissues progressively sag and the face becomes hollow.

Injected into the dermis, a dermal filler will effectively alleviate this hyaluronic acid deficiency. In this way HA fillers can be used to fill out facial lines and wrinkles and plump up lips. They have an established and excellent safety record and a wide range of products are available to suit individual requirements. No pre-test is required as the hypo-allergenic gel is so similar to our body’s own natural HA. The effect is not permanent as the filler biodegrades slowly over time.

We use a range of fillers which are by far some of the most popular and widely used fillers on the market. This treatment may be used for:

A natural rejuvenation can be achieved with the use of dermal fillers placed at strategic points in the cheeks and jaw line.

What does treatment involve?

Our specialists will first apply a topical anaesthetic cream to the area to be treated and allow it to take effect for about 30-40 minutes. Sometimes a dental block may be used for the lip area. The dermal filler is then injected with a very fine needle.

The treatment will take from 15-30 minutes depending on the extent of coverage and there should only be minimal discomfort. After treatment temporary redness, mild bruising, swelling or tenderness for 2-7 days can be expected. The effects of the filler will be immediate and will last up to 6-18 months depending on your age, skin type and lifestyle factors. Maintenance treatments are generally required after 6-18 months.
